Co-Founder / Branding Manager / Photographer
Born and raised in the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem in 1985, Kayane has built her professional career on her belief in the transcendent power of an image, her passion for capturing and conveying fleeting stories, her sense of adventure, and her pride in her heritage.
Kayane first explored the aesthetic world through her father’s work, painting ceramics in the Old City of Jerusalem. It was there that she also learned the ins and outs of small, particularly family-owned, business. She excelled at making and maintaining lifelong relationships with clients. At 18, Kayane moved to Yerevan, Armenia, and studied documentary filmmaking for a year before returning home to pursue still photography where she was more able to explore her vast imagination and articulate it in eclectic images.
Since then, as a freelance photographer, Kayane has built her portfolio with a diverse set of clients including large telecom corporations, architectural firms, musical bands, restaurants, and community organizations. She has expansive experience in studio and documentary photography of events, food, fashion, commercial products, architecture, landscape, portraiture, and company program documentation.
In addition to photography, Kayane has experience in graphic design, animation, and film production. In 2014, she co-founded ARTLAB, a multimedia and visual arts organization in Jerusalem, where she teaches studio photography to youth, supervises production, and manages the organization’s branding, marketing, and social media.
Kayane dedicates much of her time initiating, leading, and organizing different youth activities to preserve the Jerusalemite Armenian language, heritage, and culture.
